DAY TEN: God’s salvation Prayers for a Community Spiritual Awareness

Day 10 (Friday) – Romans 10:8-16

Today’s Passage

Read the passage – Romans 10:8-16

In this passage, Paul gives some clear actions that lead to a person’s salvation.

  • What are these actions?
  • Paul gives a process of how people come to faith. What do Christians need to do to bring people to faith?
  • What challenges you in this passage?

Prayer

  • May our church be a beacon of light and love to those seeking You.
  • Pray that we would carry the gospel to others so that they may hear the good news.
  • Pray for God to be sending labourers into the harvest.
  • Pray that all the different ethnic groups living in our local region would hear the gospel.

Martha C. Highsmith, “Pastoral Perspective on Romans 10:5–15,” in Feasting on the Word: Preaching the Revised Common Lectionary: Year A, ed. David L. Bartlett and Barbara Brown Taylor, vol. 3 (Louisville, KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011), 326–330.

It is unfortunate that evangelism has become a controversial word in some churches. Many Christians hesitate to share their faith, seeing evangelism as an outdated or pushy practice. But in reality, evangelism is simply being a messenger of good news—the same root word as “angel.” If the world needs anything, it is more good news.

Paul reminds us that salvation is not something we achieve through works, persuasive words, or religious performance. Christ has already secured salvation. Our role is to share that reality. Some Christians take this as an excuse to be passive, thinking, “If God has done it all, what is our role?” But true faith leads to both belief and action. It calls us to live with authenticity—both in our hearts and with our lips.

This Christian faith redefines community. Instead of drawing rigid boundaries between insiders and outsiders, the gospel centers all people on Christ. No longer does salvation belong to one ethnic group or nation. Paul declares that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Our mission is to make sure all have the opportunity to hear this truth.

Faith is an embodied reality. Paul speaks of lips (vv. 8, 9), mouth (v. 10), heart (vv. 8, 9, 10), and feet (v. 15). Evangelism is not just about theological arguments but about living out the gospel in ways that make sense in context. Whether through words or actions, believers are called to be messengers of good news. As Paul declares, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
